What are niche job boards? A niche job board is a job site for one industry, one skill or one place. It has fewer jobs, but every one is relevant. Employers reach the right people. And candidates stop scrolling past jobs that are not for them. Some examples. Remote design jobs. Jobs in one city. Nursing and care. Climate and energy. Nonprofit roles. Or jobs for people who know one piece of software. Who should start one? Someone who already has the audience. A newsletter or a blog about one field. A community or a club. Or an association with members. Employers in your field want to reach your readers, and a job board is how you let them. Why not send those employers to a big general job site? Because there, a job from your field is one among a great many. The applicants stay with that site. And your audience has to leave your website to apply. On WordPress, starting takes four steps. Install a job board plugin, and its setup wizard creates the pages for you. Set the categories that fit your niche. Invite a few employers you already know. And approve their first jobs. Here is a board on a real WordPress site. Candidates search, and filter by category, job type, location and experience. Each job opens on a page of its own. A member who is interested saves the job, and comes back to it from their own dashboard. You decide what appears. Unless you switch approval off, a job that an employer posts waits here until you approve it. And every application is recorded on your own site. Each employer gets a guided form to post a job, a dashboard to review the applications, and a public page for the company. Each candidate applies with a cover letter and a resume file, and tracks every application from one dashboard. Guests can apply too, with a name and an email. All of that is free. When the board is busy, the Pro version lets you sell job posting credits to employers, let them pay to feature a job, and run several boards from one site, one for each niche. Side by side. A big site lists every kind of job. Your board lists one field only. Their audience, or yours. Applicants on their site, or on your own. There, you are a customer. Here, you are the owner. Employers in your field are hiring this month. Until your board exists, every one of those jobs is posted somewhere else. WP Career Board is the job board plugin for WordPress.
